Is Split Fiction on PS5?
Yes. Split Fiction is available on PS5 and it is one of the best versions of the game. It was available from launch on March 6, 2025.
You can buy Split Fiction on PS5 as a digital download from the PlayStation Store or as a physical copy. The official physical PS5 copy is also available at the Hazelight store.
Is Split Fiction on Xbox?
Yes. Split Fiction is available on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S from launch on March 6, 2025.
However, it is important to know which Xbox you have. Split Fiction requires current generation Xbox hardware. It is not available on Xbox One.

This is one of the most common questions about the game, and the answer is straightforward. Split Fiction was built for current generation hardware from the ground up. The PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC versions are the only options.
Does Split Fiction Have Cross Platform Play?
Yes. Split Fiction supports full cross platform play, and this is actually a first for Hazelight Studios.
You can co-op with a friend on a completely different console or PC. PS5 players can play with Xbox players. PC players can play with console players. It does not matter what platform either of you is on.
This is new for Hazelight. Their previous games, It Takes Two and A Way Out, required both players to be on the same platform family. Split Fiction removed that barrier entirely.

Do Both Players Need to Buy Split Fiction?
No. Only one player needs to own Split Fiction. The second player downloads a free Friend's Pass and can play the entire game from start to finish at no cost. The Friend's Pass is available on all platforms.
This works across platforms too. If you own Split Fiction on PS5 and want to play with a friend on PC, your friend downloads the free Friend's Pass on PC and you play together via crossplay.
The Friend's Pass has been part of every Hazelight game since A Way Out. It is one of the most playerfriendly features in modern gaming.

What Is Split Fiction About?
Split Fiction follows Mio Hudson and Zoe Foster, two writers who find themselves trapped inside a simulation of their own stories. Mio writes sci-fi. Zoe writes fantasy. The game alternates between their worlds, each one with completely different mechanics and visual style.
It is exclusively a co-op game. There is no singleplayer mode. You need a second player, either a friend sitting beside you or someone online via crossplay.
The game takes most players 12 to 15 hours to complete, with optional side stories for those who want more. It scored perfect reviews from GameSpot, Push Square, NME and others, and sold over 7 million copies in its first year.
